Pathology Laboratory Services

The primary goal of our laboratory is to provide high quality services in a very short period of time (based on the European guidelines on acceptable response times) and working in this direction, it has fully staffed and equipped the space covering a wide range of examinations.

Examinations

Overall, we cover the following exams:

  1. Basic histological examination with E / E staining.
  2. Histological examination using special histochemical stains.
  3. Examination using special immunohistochemical markers, in histological sections of paraffin cubes using a wide range of immunohistochemical markers, but also molecular tests.
  4. Hormonal test and prognostic markers, in breast biopsies / surgical preparations (ER, PGR, CerB2, Ki67), lung (PDL-1) or gastrointestinal tract.
  5. Special immunofluorescence study with a collaborating specialized department.
  6. Advisory opinion in a histological response of high diagnostic difficulty or concern, maintaining in the alternative for this purpose communication links with recognized Pathological laboratories and specialized Pathologists abroad.
  7. Presence of our scientific officer in a oncology council of a public or private hospital / clinic.
  8. Histological responses follow the international guidelines for recording diagnostic protocols, as determined by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the College of American Pathologists, while the delivery times of the histological response are subject to the above directions.
  9. A record is kept of all biopsy materials, enclosed in paraffin cubes as well as histological plates for 20 years, adapting this procedure based on the current legislation and the Instructions of the Hellenic Society of Pathological Anatomy.
The management of biopsies / cases, from the moment of their receipt until the issuance of histological responses, are supported by modern information software. Based on this, it is possible to continuously control each stage / station of treatment of the biopsy, in order to comply with the protocols and instructions, but also to be informed at all times on the course of the final diagnosis (and therefore the remaining time to achieve it).

It is noted that the electronic management and recording of biopsies is based on the protection of the patient's personal data based on the latest GPDR instructions.
